Apple iPhone Review: Don’t Believe The Hype

Are Apple iPhones Everything Advertisers Claim?

Recognize these famous icons: Edsel, New Coke and Apple Ipod?

After all the publicity surrounding Apple’s new iPhone the public opinion is in, and people are sorely disappointed in the device. Making it similar in reputation to the Edsel car which received it’s bad name after a former Ford family member dodged the draft, or the New Coke which really tasted like Pepsi. Still despite the reviews, the Apple iPhone has generated an absurd amount of revenue for Apple. It appears as though people’s curiosity has compelled them to want to see if it is as horrific as it’s being portrayed.

Can the Apple iPhone work with other devices correctly?

One of the most popular viral videos since the phone’s much-hyped 2007 release is that of a blender seller, who put an iPhone in a blender and turned on the machine. This was done to show off the strength of the blender, but also seemed to be more than a cutting review of the Apple iPhone by the blender seller. This video quickly became widely popular even more so than the Blendtec blender he was selling, which was a strong indication that many other viewers felt the same way, or at least could relate to his humorous way of showing his dissatisfaction in Apple’s new iPhone.

Keep Working It, Steve Jobs

If you want to read some of the reviews on Apple iPhones, you could go to the Cnet.com website for several ’geek reports’, just be prepared for the upper techno-jargon used because it can be tough to understand. Probably the best Apple iPhone reviews are done by the average person and you can find many to choose from on the internet. Apple iPhone reviews are easy to find online, simply type in: "Apple iPhone reviews", in whatever search engine you use and you will find plenty to read.

Cara Volle wrote a review on Helium.com that you might want to check out. That particular review starts off with, "Sorry Steve Jobs, but I hate your effing iPhone", but that’s all I should really repeat here. Although not exactly Pulitzer Prize winning material, it does give you an indication about how good a gizmo an iPhone could be.

Consumers have not been pleased about having to use AT&T as the sole network provider, and they are not happy about the high cost of the iPhone either. Many have also complained about the camera function not being up to par, and the much anticipated video capability which still had some work to be done before it should have been released to the public. People who use the iPhone a lot have noticed that it can get rather hot to-the-touch, causing safety concerns for a large number of Apple iPhone users. It was also discovered that a small group of computer security professionals have been able to hack their way into the Apple iPhone, which indicates unwelcomed ’hackers’ can get into it too.

Unfortunately, anytime there are new ’tech toys’ that are released to the public they are never 100% problem free, and it stands to reason that consumers are the best way to get feedback on it’s actual performance. Before purchasing your Apple iPhone, I would suggest waiting about one year so they can work out all the bugs and then create a much better product, one you may find worth waiting for.

A Brief History of the Apple iPhone

A Quick Recap of Apple iPhones Origins

Known for making a large variety of advanced technical products, Apple has become a famous brand name among consumers. Already before the release of Apple iPhone in June 2007, guesses had been made widely about the outlook, the specifications and about the general properties of the product. No wonder, as the Apple iPhone seems to be an innovative and a novel product, combining the technology of iPods, a revolutionary mobile phone and a handy internet device, some assert it to be three separate products all in one.

The Beginnings

The Apple iPhone history began with a business meeting called by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, when he instructed his engineers to develop touch screens, most likely to use in already develop products such as the Apple PC tablet. In April of 2003 he announced that traditional PDAs and tablet PCs were not the direction Apple was going to move forward with.

Advanced technologies and the possibilities through improving upon the cell phone was to be the new focus and direction for Apple. In January 2007 during the MacWorld Expo, Apple announced it’s soon to be released new iPhone product would be available by June 2007. During another conference later that same year, the Apple iPhone was announced that it would be able to connect with third parties creating Web 2.0 applications which users could use for internet access.

Availability to the Public and Still More Developments

Apple iPhone eventually went on sale June 29, 2007 in the United States, and hundreds of people reportedly lined up in front of the shops to be able to grab the new Apple iPhone as soon as possible. At first when the Apple iPhone was introduced to the public, it was available in either a 4GB for $499 or 8GB for $599 however, it was quickly evident that the 8GB was far more popular in demand, so Apple soon stopped making the 4GB.

In September Apple made a reduction in the sale price of the 8GB, for $200 less then the original asking price, and that decision upset many early buyers because they felt it was unfair to them. Apple iPhone’s initial popularity was not close to the level Apple had anticipated it would be.

For instance, they expected the first weekend sales to range from anywhere between 200,000 - 700,000, in products sold. To their disappointment only around 145,000 devices were activated and registered that first weekend.

One of the reasons was that the Apple iPhone had to be used with AT&T and people had to sign up for a two year subscription before you could get it activated or registered. Catching the attention of the media was the story of a 300 page bill someone received from AT&T, since then changes have been made in their invoice statements.

The Apple iPhone went international during the fourth quarter of 2007 and began to sell their iPhone’s in Germany, France, Europe and the United Kingdom. Apple encountered a possible legal issue in Europe because they had chosen one specific company to be the only one from where the Apple iPhone could be sold.

Choosing A Cell Phone Plan

Fortunately with so much competition, cell phone plans are abundant, which is good news for owners of cell phones everywhere. Owing to the large number of network services in this country, it may help you to research and assess their offers before deciding on the type of scheme that suits you best.

Of course if you are a heavy user then a monthly cell phone plan may be a better option for you. For self employed individuals or just heavy phone users then the monthly packages that are available are usually the better option to take. Currys mobile phones store provides an excellent outlet for researching for a plan to suit your needs.

Family plans are becoming more popular as are those based on your geographical location. Before you get too excited it is a good idea to check exactly what is included in these agreements.

One downside to prepaid cellular phones is that they often have watered down functionality compared to those that are paid for monthly. Businesses for example would not benefit from the family option.

Of course the biggest benefit a cellular phones that is part of a family plan is that calls made between those family members who are on the same contract usually get a discount. You may also find that other savings are available using this type of plan including special airtime discounts.

Of course national cell phone plans will include free calls anywhere in the country. You will also not be charged for roaming with this type of plan and this is of huge benefit to business travelers.

For regional use free national calls do not apply but you may it is unlikely you will be charged full price for the airtime used. Prepaid cell phone plans are often the preferred type for travelers and business people as the traditional plan without roaming and long-distance charges might be best.

Remember, having a cell phone and being available all the time may not be healthy, thus, you have to be wary not to allow people disturb you when you need to be alone with or without your cell phone.

Do Reverse Cell Phone Lookups Work?

A reverse phone search is in need when one of these scenarios develops. You may be receiving a number of irritating calls from pranksters. You pick up the call but there is no one answering on the other line. Or you may have picked up an unknown number on your caller ID that you are not familiar with. This is why you need to use a reverse cell phone lookup to trace the owner of that phone number.

Reverse phone lookups, with their ability to tell you who owns a phone number, have existed since around the time of the first phone book directories. Called the "gray pages," they used to list phone numbers in sequential order to help people search a number. Today, you probably will not find any gray pages in your local phone book, but you will be able to find those numbers and many more online using reverse phone lookup websites.

Few things can be as fun as getting in touch with a friend whom you've lost track of over the years. After all, as the old saying goes, old friends are as valuable as gold. When you find someone that you used to be fond of, you get the pleasure of reconnecting with them, and the two of you can automatically pick up your friendship right where you left off. But finding an old friend can often seem harder than it has to be. If you want to get in touch with a friend you haven't heard from in a while, a great way to search is by using a reverse cell phone lookup.

Most of us are still used to using the White Pages or Yellow Pages to look up a phone number we need. The more computer literate of us have learned to forsake the "dead tree" version of these publications and instead use the Internet to perform the same task. However, even the most advanced computer users are new to the concept of a reverse phone lookup. A reverse phone lookup may sound complicated, but they are perfectly normal and legal ways to garner information online.

I have seen websites claiming to offer free cell lookups, but they always lead eventually to the paid sites in the end, even allowing people to search for free and then charging to view the results. It is the sad truth that the only place where you are likely to find detailed reverse cell records is within the legitimate paid directories. In conclusion, the answer is no, a free reverse cell phone lookup does not currently exist. However if you really want to access such records then I believe paying a small fee is a price worth paying.

Telephone Conference Calling at Home As Well As Work

In the business environment of today, telephone conference calling is utilized on a very large scale each and every day in businesses all over the globe. But did you know that conference calling has also gotten quite popular for personal use from home?

At work, you have more than likely used teleconferences for meetings with clients or colleagues at other locations within your company. These kinds of audio gatherings are generally a somewhat regular occurrence for several retail store managers.

In general, a retail store is simply a subset of a very large chain and each single store is usually part of a larger region or district that includes a number of other stores. It simply would not be practical for all the region store managers to gather every week at one location, and it certainly would not be cost effective either. The solution to all of this is for the district or regional manager to schedule weekly meetings via telephone conference calls with all of the store managers who can listen in and provide their input as needed.

Personal conference calls are different because at home you can only participate with two other parties at once, but this type of call is still known as a conference call. At home teleconference calling is a feature that you can choose when you first set up your telephone service. This feature is generally referred to as three-way calling, but there are a few phone services that offer actual conference features where you can talk with even more than three people at one time.

As you may gather, this feature for personal phone has become quite popular among teenage girls who have a strong desire to talk on the phone with all of their friends at one time. Without such a telephone conference calling feature, the teenage girl using call waiting on a home phone will most likely go back and forth between two friends and even use call waiting on her cell phone attached to the other ear. No doubt that this could become very costly when you pay for those cell phone minutes.

Telephone conference calling has also become a very popular feature those who work at home or for people who telecommute. With the rising price of gas, there are even more people who are telecommuting or working from home today. These folks must have a way to communicate with their home offices or converse with clients via conference calling. This is the main reason why phone service providers are now offering true conference calling to personal accounts as an option.

Bring Everyone Together With Conference Calling

Even though people may live far apart, sometimes it becomes necessary to bring them together. In order to compare notes, to have meetings, or to unveil new programs, companies often have to bring satellite offices together. Friends and family may also want to get together even though they may live states or continents apart. Traveling across the country or the world just for a meeting or a chat is very expensive.

Conference calling is much less expensive and it allows people to discuss what they need to, even if it's just for a few minutes. There are programs out there that will allow you to have free conference calling and then there those companies that charge. Even if you have to pay a little extra, however, conference calling is what you should use to bring your employees, friends or family together.

Company Meetings

Let's say for instance, that you are the CEO of a company based in Seattle, Washington. You have satellite offices in Houston, Phoenix, St. Louis and Los Angeles. You want to discuss the progress of each office, get some sales figures and you want to tell them about some new policies that just came into play. Sure, you could email the information to everyone but email can be unreliable. You'd much rather tell them in person, or at least let them hear it from your own mouth. Conference calling allows you to do just this. You can all call into the same number and everyone can listen and participate as if you were all in the same board room. It's extremely convenient and it allows you to connect with your employees, even if it's just briefly, and it's cheaper than flying all over the country.

Friends And Family

Conference calling is also great for bringing everyone together if you have family spread all over the country or the world. Sure, you won't be able to see them or touch them, as you could at a family reunion, but at least you can hear their voices. You can also conference call through your computer with the use of a web cam so that you can see your friends and family, or you can just talk to them on the phone. Just hearing the voice of a loved one is sometimes the best thing for you if you're feeling down, and it's great to be able to talk to many of your friends and family at once through conference calling.

Contact your cell phone provider or your phone company to see if they have conference calling capabilities. There are also conference calling services that you can call. You'll all be given a pass number which you can use to be transferred to your own virtual 'conference room' where you can all talk at your leisure and catch up, whether it's for business or pleasure.
